How Tornado Combustion Began
Tornado Combustion was designed by and for the people with their boots on the ground.
It all started in 1984 in Stettler, Alberta with an oilfield operator who was frustrated with the performance of his equipment. It wasn’t reliable. It wasn’t quality. It wasn’t even particularly effective.
He wasn’t confident in his equipment. And that wasn’t good enough.
So, he aspired to create something better, and when he did, people noticed. One of the first paying jobs we took was an ignition system for an existing 6” x 90’ flare stack.
Tornado was born, and our pursuit of a higher standard sparked a shift in combustion technology that has been moving the industry’s standard for what’s possible for decades.
We specialize in highly customized combustion equipment because we know that every combustion system has different needs, and you’ll never get the highly efficient, long-lasting results we deliver with a standardized solution. No matter what anyone else tries to tell you.
As we continued working, word about us spread. And as we built a name for ourselves, we were asked to build more and new technology for sites all over the world. Eventually, in 1996, we opened an office in Alleyton, Texas—just an hour west of Houston—so we could fabricate locally for our American clients.
Tornado Combustion Today
We might have humble beginnings, but since 1984, we’ve reshaped the industry with ourselves on top.
Combustion is a chain reaction, and so are we. It all started with the spark of an idea from an oilfield operator, and we’ve been moving the limits of combustion technology ever since. For decades.
At this point, we’re more than a group of people chasing the next best thing, we’re the uncontested experts in combustion. Today, you can still find us in our Global head office in Calgary, AB and our US Operations office in Alleyton, TX, where our teams are always hard at work, constantly innovating.
