About Flame Arrestors
An Economical Solution for Deflagration & Flame Front Propagation
Flame arrestors, like the name suggests, will prevent flame front propagation or deflagration by forcing the flame through a stainless-steel crimped ribbon element, which absorbs heat and extinguishes the flame before it can pass through to a pipeline, vent, or other system handling flammable gases and vapors. They’re an economical solution, compared to other arrestors, and we offer them in custom sizes and configurations for seamless integration with your system.
If you have purge gas available and an arrestor isn’t feasible for you, you might be looking for a solution like our Velocity Seal Purge Reducer.

Do You Need a Flame Arrestor?
You should have a flame arrestor installed for systems where you’re using combustible gases or vapors, including storage tanks, and pipelines alongside nearby ignition sources and the risk for flashbacks would involve a low-speed flame.
If you have an arrestor, but it is showing any signs of damage or wear such as corrosion, pitting, blockages, warping and heat damage, or unusual vibrations or noise, or if it is having trouble passing maintenance evaluations, you need a new one immediately.
